Liverpool Blog Meet

I'll be checking into my hotel room at 2pm. My hotel is 62 Castle St Hotel, 62 Castle St, Liverpool.

The time of the Meet'n'Greet has been changed. It does not start at 4pm. The Meet'n Greet starts at 5 - 6:30pm and is being held in The Room. The Room is attached to 62 Castle St Hotel so once you locate the hotel, you will be looking for the lounge. There is a cash bar there and I have arranged for some canapes to be served.

IMPORTANT CHANGES

I called JD Wetherspoons this morning (local time) and they advised that they are unable to accommodate a reservation for 10 at 7pm. I was advised that we could just come to the door, present ourselves and we could get seated and served. I suggest that after the Meet'n'Greet, we leave the hotel and decide where we are going to eat. I am sure someone will take our money.

We should get to Lennon's for the start of our pub crawl between 8:30-9pm. For those who are not joining us for dinner, we shall meet you there.

Based on this post and other comments, there are 10 confirmed bloggers going to dinner at this JD Wetherspoons which is located here as per Google map.

Have I got that right? Did I miss anybody? Forgive me if I have, as I am a MenoMama after all. The important thing is to get the correct information now to ensure we reserve our table. If folks won't know whether they are coming to the dinner until a later date, they can call Wetherspoons themselves and add themselves to the reservation and pre-pay their own 3 pound deposit.

I will make the reservation for dinner tomorrow, November 22 at 6pm, local Meno time and it made under the name of Denis when it is made for 7pm on November 30, 2007. The deposit for each dinner which is 3 pounds will be pre-paid and we can settle that at a later time.

Folks who do not want to have a buffer dinner at the above JD Wetherspoons can meet up with us at the pub called Lennon's which is not far from the restaurant and for exact directions, please email Denzil85

Denzil has just been to J.D. Wetherspoons and was advised of the following:

I've just been to Wetherspoons to ask about making a reservation; they said that due to the time of year and the size of our group, they'll only accept us if we have one of their their Christmas Dinner menus; one of which includes a main course and a drink; I've added the menu as an attachment. There are two problems with this though, they need the meal orders in advance as well as a non-refundable deposit of £3 per person.

We'll need to see if the people coming to the blog meet are happy with a Christmas dinner, if so what they would like to order. If we don't want Christmas dinner, they also offer a Christmas buffet which looks like there is more like something for everyone so I think that that could be a good option. The buffet option also needs a deposit of £3 per person but that can be sorted out easily enough as that is the only issue.

They've said that as long as we get the booking form back to them 72 hours before, it'll be fine. Oh and one last thing, they only do reservations on the hour, so would 6pm or 7pm be best?

For the folks who are going to the dinner, please decide what we will do by November 20th. BTW, the dinner reservation will be made for 7pm

For the required deposit, I will take care of that and we shall sort it out later. I think a Christmas dinner would be nice but then let's hear what you have to say.

Denzil85 is making a reservation for 30 people at JD Wetherspoons for 6:30pm on November 30. I expect that there will be between 25-30 people for dinner. Dinner is expected to last approximately two hours.

Then we shall head over to a pub called Lennon's on Matthews St so folks who are not having dinner with us, can meet up with us at Lennons' between 8:30pm- 9:00pm as that will our estimated time of arrival.

Here's a comment yoinked from Denzil's blog.

There's a bar on Mathew Street called Lennon's; the ground floor there is usually fairly quiet so would be great for meeting people in and I think there could be a good starting point for the pub crawl.

JD Wetherspoons is maybe about a 15 minute walk from Castle Street and Mathew Street is around halfway inbetween the two so it all works out fairly well. I asked Sweetymon if she knew if there were any karaoke bars in the city centre and she thinks there is one but its a little out of the way of where we'll be but a few quick taxi rides and/or a walk could sort that issue out. http://maps.google.co.uk/ - will help with directions; you're on Castle Street, and Wetherspoons is on Great Charlotte Street.
